Volunteers

LEAPS promotes Higher Education while supporting young people in secondary schools in South East Scotland.

Many of the events we deliver in school and on campus are designed around the valuable input of university student volunteers. These events include school-based workshops, campus visits and conferences held at universities in and around Edinburgh. As a LEAPS volunteer you will play a vital role, working with small groups of pupils in structured workshops led by LEAPS staff. Find out more about our events here.

Our volunteer team is made up of university undergraduate students, including international students, mature students and those who accessed university having first completed a course at college. Students from the following institutions are eligible to contribute as LEAPS volunteers:

  • The University of Edinburgh
  • Edinburgh Napier University
  • Heriot-Watt University
  • Queen Margaret University
  • Scotland's Rural College (SRUC)
  • University of Stirling

You can opt in to events to suit your academic and other commitments. There is no pressure to carry out a set number of events each semester – you can decide how much you get involved. All of our events take place in a staff-supervised environment.

In order to participate as a LEAPS volunteer you need to take part in LEAPS Volunteer Training. Completing our training is an opportunity to see if this is the volunteering opportunity you are looking for - it doesn't commit you to volunteering.
